As part of our Harvest celebrations once again we participated in the RHS Big Soup Share.
This year it was difficult to share the soup with the wider community, but our two Gardening Club groups in Year 5 and 6 were able to make soup independently to share with their class group 'bubbles'.
The Year 6 children harvested the ingredients, pumpkin, carrot, parsnip and leeks on Wednesday 14th October, then made their batch of soup. The Year 5 group prepared the ingredients and made the soup on Thursday 15th.
The results were served to both classes on Friday afternoon before we broke up for half-term.
We were pleased once again to make two big pans full of soup entirely from produce from our allotment patch - zero food miles!
Congratulations to the children for all their hard work and a big thank you to our adult helpers who make it all possible.
