On Monday 23rd July, what seemed like a "Thank You" assembly took an unexpected turn, when Mr Drury revealed that it was also time for Mrs Wood's "This is Your (Wanborough) Life".
After sixteen years, Mrs Wood is leaving us to become head at a school in Newbury.
To help to say "Goodbye" and "Thank You" for all her work during those years, we invited former pupils George and Isobelle to give us some memories; Rosie Tuck sang 'A Whole New World' beautifully; Dan Clarke, former teacher at Wanborough, now head at Brook Field School, recalled Mrs Wood's early days at our school; former TAs, Mrs Upshall, Mrs Rendell, Mrs Clegg and Mrs Finnegan remembered their time with Mrs Wood; there were messages from other former staff and testimonials from parents and finally, in the traditional way, Mrs Wood's family joined her.
She was then presented with gifts from the school.
It was an afternoon of happy emotions to celebrate Mrs Wood's fantastic contribution to the school over sixteen years, and if that wasn't enough, then it was time for tea and cakes, and the arrival of more former pupils and parents.
The very best wishes to Mrs Wood for her future career!
