After the cancellation of the original date, this year our Sports Day was held on July 13th, a day which still did its best to be up and down in the weather department!
However, the children's enthusiasm remained high throughout.
Reception / Key Stage 1
In the morning, Reception and Key Stage 1 were competing for their houses, but their total scores weren't revealed, as they were carried over to be added to the KS2 points in the afternoon.
After the year group races there was also a toddlers' race and the traditional, keenly fought mothers' and fathers' Egg and Spoon races.
Key Stage 2
In the afternoon it was KS2's turn to compete in their houses for the House Sports cup.
With a slight re-ordering of events to allow the track to dry after a lunchtime shower, we went ahead in mostly sunny conditions, the rain only returning at the time of the final presentation.
This year the Reception / KS1 results once again had an impact on the final placings.
Earth were the winners in the KS2 section by one point, 294 to Air's 293, but Air's lead carried over from the morning gave them an overall win by a significant margin.
It's going to be interesting to see how the balance shifts as the current KS1 Air pupils move up through the school!
