Leavers' Service 2023
Last updated 25.07.23

On the evening of 21st July 2023 we held our service and celebration for our departing Year 6 pupils.

In keeping with our recent tradition, it was held on the school field.

The children sang their "Leavers' Song" and told us about their memories of the years at Wanborough School.

Rev. Sandy Railton spoke about the importance of the friendships that they have made and that will support them in the future. She presented Bibles to all the pupils and Mrs Taylor-Brant read an emotional poem.

In his address, Mr Drury praised the class for they way that they had overcome the difficult period of online learning and how they had grown as a team, particularly in this last year. In light of the animal characters played by the children in The Lion King, Mr Drury mused on what animal his family might see him as. He sent them a text and was informed by them that they saw him as variously a loyal dog, an otter or puffer fish!

In recognition of extra effort that the class made to overcome the difficulties of the lockdown period, once again we felt it was appropriate to give George Gibbs medals to all of the class. They also collected their certificates and year books.

After one last performance of "He Lives In You" from Lion King, Lillie and Ruby read prayers and the presentations to staff were made by the parents.

All that was left was to watch the Leavers' video and to party into the night!
