On Tuesday 5th we were invited to take part in another tree planting session at Manners Wood.
This is a site at the bottom of Pack Hill that is being planted by the Woodland Trust with support from Nationwide Building Society and Swindon Borough Council.
We have carried out planting here before, in the last school year (
see here...).
Our current Year 3 (Maple Class) and Year 6 (Oak Class) visited the site in the morning and afternoon respectively and set to with enthusiasm. The team from the Woodland Trust were very impressed with the amount of planting that was achieved and the children's knowledge and interest in environment matters.
This is a real project for the long-term benefit of the community and the environment. These trees will reach maturity in 30 - 50 years, so it will be our children's children or even grand-children who will see the full benefit!
