Oak Class - Term 3

In our computing lesson this week we focused on esafety as part of Safter Internet Day.  The theme for this year was online scams.  We discussed what an online scam was; how a scam could present itself e.g. email, text, phone call; and what we could do to avoid falling victim to a scam.  It was then over to Year 6 to use 2Quiz on Purplemash to create some online safety quizzes aimed at primary age children.

On Monday we spent the day making burgers as part of our DT unit - we were given the choice of making beef, chicken or vegetable burgers.  Whilst making them, we ensured that we applied our knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safety.  The best part of the day was then getting to eat them!

Year 6 - week 27th January

This term we are completing our fencing level 2 in PE.  We have been building upon the skills we learnt in Year 5 and have been applying these to small fencing bouts.

Year 6 - week 20th January

Trip to the Army Air Flying Museum.

On Thursday 16th January, Year 6 visited the Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop, Hampshire.  This amazing museum is home to over 35 aircraft and holds a collection of artefacts charting over 100 years of the British Army in the air.   Our day began with a tour of the museum floor led by the extremely knowledgeable staff.  We looked at the history of military flight from the First World War to the present day.  Time was then spent focusing on life during WW2.  We explored a 1940s replica house; handled artefacts from the time period; took part in a propaganda trail; and spent time exploring the exhibits on display.  We had a fantastic time and it was the perfect way to end our topic - 'Britain at War'.
