Oak Class - Term 4
In our writing sessions this term, we have been focusing on balanced discussions. We have spent the last two weeks looking at various examples and identifying their features. In our geography lessons, we learnt about deforestation and the reasons for and against it. We are going to be using this knowledge this week to write a balanced discussion titled, "Should we allow the deforestation of the Amazon?"
In our Art lessons this term, we have been focusing on the artist Frida Kahlo. We learnt that she was a Mexican artist known for her self-portraits which depicted her love of her culture. We wrote fact pages about her life and then spent time investigating the colour wheel. We learnt about primary, secondary and tertiary colours and how these can be split into warm and cool. In our lesson this week, we investigated how to create tints and shades of a colour hue.
Year 6 - week 10th March
World Book Day! On Thursday 6th March we all dressed up for World Book Day. Alongside Percy Jackson, Willy Wonka and characters from other books, Year 6 was invaded by minions (yes, we are aware this isn't actually a book!). Gru even made an appearance! We spent the morning taking part in a library themed escape room which tested our maths and spag knowledge and then created book themed board games in the afternoon.
World Book Day 2025
Over the past few weeks, we have been focusing on persuasive writing in our english lessons. We have studied the features, looked at examples and even practised writing a persuasive advert in pairs. This week we wrote our independent piece of writing titled 'Visit Brazil'. We used our knowledge of this country from our geography lessons and our knowledge of persuasive texts to write our leaflets.
