Elm Class - Term 6

Over the past few weeks, Elm Class have been working on their own abstract recreations of Vincent van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’. The children used two different printing techniques, using string, to create their pieces of art. The first technique involved dynamic string printing whereby the children painted a long piece of string and positioned it in their sketchbook to create a starting point. They then closed their book shut and whilst putting pressure on the cover, pulled the string through and out of their book. This creates a floral pattern. To create the vase, the children used cardboard and string to create a vase shape for the floral print to sit in – their final products look fantastic!
