European Day of Languages🌍🎉

At Wanborough Primary School, we believe in fostering a love of languages and celebrating the rich diversity of our world. Last week, we marked the European Day of Languages with a vibrant day of learning, where each year group had the chance to explore new languages and cultures.

Our pupils were introduced to a wonderful variety of languages, thanks to our amazing volunteers:

  • Reception learned Welsh with Mrs Evans and Afrikaans with Mrs Armstrong.
  • Year 1 explored British Sign Language (BSL) with Mrs Baker.
  • Year 2 dived into Spanish with Mrs Walker and Punjabi with Mrs Hazell.
  • Year 3 continued with BSL from Mrs Baker and Spanish with Mrs Walker.
  • Year 4 learned Punjabi with Mrs Hazell and even picked up some Chinese with Mrs Hook.
  • Year 5 had a unique opportunity to explore both Greek and Russian with Mrs Sinclair.
  • Year 6 enjoyed learning Welsh from Mrs Evans and Punjabi with Mrs Wride.

This was an incredible experience for our students, offering them a glimpse into the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of different countries. Events like these are so important for encouraging curiosity, broadening horizons and fostering an inclusive mindset.

We’d like to extend a massive thank you to all our volunteers who made the day so special for our students. A special mention goes to Mrs Hook for her fantastic organisation and dedication in bringing this day to life.

At Wanborough Primary School we are proud to celebrate the European Day of Languages and embrace the diversity that languages bring. Here's to many more days of learning and discovery! 🌍
