Maple Class - Term 2
The children have been investigating light, how it can be reflected and which materials reflect light the best. In maths, the children completed an Anglo-Saxon themed game which involved co-ordinates and using their addition and subtraction column methods. In DT, the children continued to investigate pneumatic power and researched how they could use pneumatic power to make a mechanical monster move. They looked at how they could move the mouth, arms, legs and tongue.
Last week in DT, the children have been learning about pneumatic power and creating instruments that use pneumatic power to inflate a balloon. In History, the children were researching the importance of the Sutton Hoo Anglo-Saxon discovery before sharing facts and building their own burial ships.
Last week, the children had Wiltshire Fire Service come in and hold a talk about fire safety and staying safe during bonfire night. The children identified potential hazards in pictures and tried on some fire equipment. In maths, The children have been learning how to add 2 numbers together using the formal written method. In Science, the class were identifying light sources and what the absence of light meant.
