Willow Class - Term 2
w/c 1st December
In English, we looked at the key features of diary entries. We read a model text about a Celtic soldier and worked in pairs to identify the important features. In Science, we carried out an exciting experiment on soundproofing. We tested different materials including: paper, bubble wrap, a plastic bag, a silk scarf, and cloth, to see which worked best at reducing sound.
Year 4 WK6
w/c 24th November
This week, the children enjoyed investigating sound using a range of different musical instruments. They explored how sounds are made and how they can be changed. In English, we began planning and writing a newspaper article based on the battle between the Romans and Celts at Watling Street. The children have been learning how to write in a journalistic style and report historical events effectively. In RE, the children worked in pairs to explore the journey of life for people who follow the Hindu faith, gaining a deeper understanding of important milestones and traditions.
Year 4 Wk5
w/c 17th November
The children enjoyed working in small groups to create a Roman-inspired dance based on statues and temples, which they confidently performed in front of the class. In Science, we carried out experiments to explore how to make higher and lower pitch sounds using glasses of water, rulers, and rubber bands. The children loved investigating how different materials and amounts of water could change the sounds they produced.
Year 4 WK3
w/c 10th November
In Computing this week, the children designed their own storyboards and are excited to bring them to life as animations using PurpleMash. In History, they were fascinated by the story of Boudicca, discovering how she courageously stood up to the Romans. Meanwhile, in English, the class explored the world of newspapers, learning to spot key features and even beginning to think like real reporters.
Year 4 T2 WK2
w/c 3rd November
We had a great first week back! The children loved learning Roman dance moves in PE, creating their own routines, and performing them in pairs for the class. In maths, we explored the concept of area using post-it note squares — a fun and hands-on way to learn!
