Last week, Class 4 had a wonderful time at PGL. Everyone modelled the school’s values, showed courage and resilience, and gave all the activities a go. They should all be really proud of their achievements! The photos can be found in the events section from the main school website page In DT last week, the children built and decorated their Victorian shoebox houses. The craft and detail looks amazing!

Last week, the class took part in an online Science lesson with NFU (National Farmers Union) where they learnt about green energy and amazing adaptations. They watched a live lesson and then participated in a follow-on challenge where they had to construct their own eco-friendly wind turbine. All the class were able to build a wonderful design with Some groups even managing to get theirs to work when tested with a fan. The children also had a visitor, Briony Waycott, who is the Public Health Practitioner for Air Quality and Active Travel for Swindon Borough Council. She discussed air quality and active travel with the class. The children participated in a range of activities and learnt how to improve our air quality, which will then have a positive impact on the Earth.

Last week, the children celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as a book character and completed a range of different activities. They shared their favourite books, made book character top trumps/ bookmarks, completed a book quiz and looked at a range of genres. In Maths, the children have been consolidating their perimeter learning of rectilinear shapes, polygons and irregular shapes. The children had to answer questions around the room to unlock clues to escape from the mysterious castle.

In PSHE, the children have been learning how to work effectively as a team. They have discussed the skills team members need to be able to operate efficiently and then completed a drawing challenge where they had to use verbal communication only to ensure a desired outcome. In PE, the children had a taster cricket session where they learn how to bowl and bat. For science, the children were investigating different types of light switches and then had to build their own using on a piece of paper, a paper clip and a metal sheet. They showed excellent problem-solving skills and a positive attitude towards the challenge!
